Chiranjib
Chakraborty is an young promising vocalist of Indian
Classical music.
Musical
surroundings or musical background will produce a "MUSICIAN"
- this doesn't apply to Chiranjib. His parent's sacrifice
and their dedications gave him such an influence and encouragement
from which Chranjib dared to turn his career into the vast
world of music. Being a general middle-class parent, who doesn't
belong to a musical atmosphere, only due to their love to
music, they established "ANJALI", a musical Institution,
from where a child undertook his traning and enhanced his
experience. Late Shri Shyama Prasad Karmakar, Shri Jatan Basu
Majumdar, Smt. Lakshmi Nandi and Shri Ajit Bandyopadhyay -
these four Teachers, who were attached with "Anjali"
and from whom Chiranjib has accumulated preliminary education
of Indian music.
From
1980, Chiranjib has been receiving talim (lessons) from the
veteran musician Pandit Nidan Bandyopadhayay. As well as taken
lessons on intricated taal & laya system of Indian music
from Pandit Anil Palit (desciple of Music Maestro Pandit Kishen
Maharaj) and from Pandit Sudhir Roy of Delhi Gharana. From1993
onwards he remained associated with Sangeet Research Academy
(Kolkata,India) as a student under Pandit Arun Bhaduri, the
eminent musician of Indian Classical music.
He
has completed his Master Degree in Khayal (Indian Classical
Vocal Music), from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (India)and
later on, he became attached as a Teacher with Shrutinandan,
a well established musical institution of Kolkata, India,
founded by Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and at the same time he
has received musical guidance from him.
Chiranjib's
style of blending Rampur, Gwalior and Patiala-Kasur Gharanas
has particularly been appreciated by the music circles of
India and abroad. His tonal quality, exercising process, presentation
and ability to control over sur and taal has drawn special
attention to music lovers. He is very efficient in light classical
music and Bengali modern songs too.
He
is currently living in London and constantly performing, having
workshops/classes all over Europe and India.
